Is Saturn and Rahu (North node) conjunction (‘Shrapit Yoga’) truly ‘cursed’?

Aidan Gillen as Lord Baelish from Game of Thrones, with the quote “Chaos is not a pit, chaos is a ladder,” symbolizing the Saturn–Rahu conjunction in astrology — where structure, ambition, and chaos converge to forge destiny.

Hari Om Namo Narayana!

(Aidan Gillan, (Lord Baelish of GOT fame) actually has a very tight conjunction of Saturn and the North node in Aries. It’s interesting how the role he esaayed that made him famous, this famous dialogue from said role alongwith the energy of this conjunction as you will read ahead, comes together like magic.)

You know the energy of Saturn and the North node together is really not that bad in the long run. In the early stages of life however, it can be so frustrating that it’s no wonder many people refer to this conjunction as ‘cursed’.

I for one, my readers would know, revel in the role of the ‘taboo breaker’.

So we’re going to be looking at a few charts and then I will talk about this ‘yoga’ at length; explaining the energies involved.

For this ‘yoga’ in particular I can tell you that yes, it is quite bad but only in the early part of your life. In the later part of your life it takes on a very different flavor. In fact, my grandfather, my ‘guru’.. had this conjunction in his chart. When I look back now and match his life (how he recorded it in his journal) with this placement, it makes a lot of sense.

He had this conjunction in the 8th house of his chart.

The 8th house deals with matters of inheritance, research, other people’s wealth, our legacy and also the occult.

It can deal with a lot of things btw because it is the house of the unknown. However primarily it’s these areas that I talk about. Or at least the ones we can see from the perspective of an observer since we are not privy to the hidden details of a person’s life.

  • Now, early part of my grandfather’s life was plagued a lot by problems related to his inheritance. His father died early and there were lots of conflicts over distribution of property between the brothers.
  • Many court cases in fact stretched on for so long that I remember one of them came to a resolution when I was in my late teens!
  • When it comes to in-laws, my grandmother’s father as well died pretty early and so a huge part of my grandfather’s early life was spent caring for his brother in-laws and taking care of their well being. Why? They were all just teenagers at that time and needed a father figure to guide them.
  • Pitaji’ as we called him, dabbled a lot in the occult early in life. From what he told me, he had some pretty uncomfortable experiences as well from those experiments.
  • But needless to say, there’s the energy of the North node there. So he never stopped. A natural pull towards the 8th house kept him interested in exploring many different subjects of the occult sciences.
  • An aspect of the 8th is also research and well, that’s where the positive aspects from this conjunction began to flow in to his life in the later part.
  • He completed his MA in Sanskrit towards the middle of his life and truly began going deep into the scriptures only after that.
  • Before that, he tried researching a lot of ‘Vedic’ Mathematical techniques etc. since he worked as a Mathematics lecturer, but never got too far with them.
  • He also didn’t take up the role to serve at the palace of the King of Patiala as a ‘Purohit’, like his predecessors because he shifted to Delhi in a bid to break away from tradition and make his own life. A passion for research was the primary driving force. Plus I think at that time these roles and offices were done away with since there were no ‘princely states’ anymore after independence.
  • This is another place where you can see the ‘cursed’ elements of this conjunction being played out in the 8th house.
  • He got swayed by a reference into investing quite a bit of his money in ‘Anubhav Plantations’ but that company was later found to be a Ponzi scheme.
  • See this is the negative aspect of this conjunction once again. (8th house is long term investments and savings.)
  • However as I said, things changed quite a bit later on in life.
  • He made some smart investments in Reliance.
  • Was engaged in a lot of meaningful research and translation work for a renowned ‘guru’. (8th house is research and with the North node in the 8th it can be a lot of research of foreign subjects.)
  • A lot of his students had cleared entrances to reputed engineering colleges like NITs and IITs and also pre medical exams. Among his alumni therefore he was like a hero of sorts. (8th house is legacy)
  • He maintained great relationships with his in laws until his death. (8th house)
    • and he also passed on most of this knowledge to me and my brother thereby keeping it alive. (8th house of legacy again.)
  • Even so, unfortunately, a lot of what he left behind materially, had a lot of conflict attached to it. The property and lands handed down from his ancestors in fact, had to be used up to compensate for some bad times the family faced. (He always advised his children against even ‘claiming’ that property as he feared it was ‘cursed’.)

Long story short?

  • I’d say he was probably one of the most respected men I have known. I gave a eulogy at his funeral and it seemed by the kind of people present there that he was at least a moderate level celebrity haha. Why? There were many people from high and privileged offices and positions present (his students).
  • A lot of his life’s work was able to find application for great causes.

Downside?

  • Overall it’s that a lot of his work has still been ‘secret’ and without a trace back to him. This you can call a shadow aspect of this conjunction having been in the 8th house.

Upside?

  • He left behind a massively ‘impactful’ legacy.
    • One that every one of his students including me, swear by.

Now let’s move on to analyzing two interesting examples to further expand on the impact of this conjunction and how it expresses itself:

Christoph Waltz is probably one of the most versatile actors in the world today.

  • From a convincingly villainous role in the movie “Inglorious Basterds” to convincingly warm and articulate bounty hunter in “Django Unchained”, (both Oscar winning performances) he takes to roles like a chameleon.
  • Now, he has a Saturn- North node conjunction in his 9th house. In characteristic fashion of this conjunction, Waltz spent the early part of his life trying to pursue a career in the Opera but after many years of struggle had to give up on his dream because he realized his voice wasn’t good enough for the Opera!
  • He then spent a lot of his time teaching and learning Cinema and returned to Europe to pursue stage acting and then after a long time doing that, he got into movies and then after a long time doing that he churned out those award winning performances!

Kevin Hart is probably one the world’s best known comedians today.

  • A lot of kids would know him from the comedy movies that he’s done and Kevin’s a star today in that respect.
  • However, with Saturn and North node conjunct in the first house for him, his life journey hasn’t been very easy. (First house deals with life journey and ‘self’)
  • Kevin had to struggle a lot early in life. His father was a cocaine addict, his mother raised him alone. He dropped out of college and hen worked as a shoe salesman.
  • His early stand-up performances didn’t go that well. In fact, another area where you can see this conjunction bein apparently expressed is in Kevin’s short physical stature. (5 feet 2 inches)
  • However, you see that everything that was weird and difficult about his life journey became a huge basis for his massively popular persona. (First house)
  1. Saturn and the North node are a difficult combination together in the same house because on the one hand the North node is your soul’s purpose in this lifetime continuously drawn you to itself.
  2. On the other hand however, the Saturn placement is pointing out your biggest challenge in life for mastery.

It’s like putting a 4 year old kid’s favorite box of crayons at the top of a high shelf and then telling him:

“You’ll get your favorite desert for dinner honey, if you finish your art homework!”

You are driven by both desire and natural intrigue but you need to grow intothe challenge standing before you!

Frustrating as hell.

  • Now this is because the soul is naturally not good in that area of our life where the North node is placed.
  • It is driven by a natural desire for it because that is after all what your soul has manifested here in this lifetime to experience.
  • However, to begin to start on the journey of fulfillment of your North node, you are first required to survive and grow through the challenges of Saturn!
  • And you can’t even talk yourself out of wanting this thing because you have Professor Saturn sitting there who will go on producing problems for you to fix that you will have to tackle.

Why?

  • Because wherever Saturn is in the chart is where he wants to push you to greatness.

So these contradictory energies can be very frustrating especially in the early part of your life.

It’s only when the North node matures at the age of 42 that the native begins to develop more realistic ideas about how to go about managing that house.

Before that, a huge part of the soul’s evolution is taking place via the frustrations, gaffes and failures that the native is having to encounter.

  • See, the North node conjunct Saturn shows that the native is here to develop the virtues of patience, endurance and resilience in this lifetime.
    • This pretty much amplifies the relevance of Saturn in the chart.
  • All of these are Saturnian traits that the soul possibly had not developed well in previous lifetimes.
  • In this lifetime therefore the native must continuously go through experiences that shape the soul’s development in this direction.

There are a few answers that I have written about both the North node and Saturn that you are encouraged to read for a deeper understanding of these entities:https://qr.ae/prC2FChttps://www.quora.com/Is-Rahu-Mahadasha-and-Rahu-Antardasha-always-negative-irrespective-of-Rahus-good-or-bad-placement/answer/Jay-Kaushal-1

Hope this helps.
