Hari Om Namo Narayana!
Almost every planet does very well in the 10th house even ‘Ketu’.
In fact, you’d be surprised how well the South node can perform in the 10th house if you’re willing to work with its energy. Some very eminent personalities have the South node in the 10th.
- However, the ambitious North node of the Moon ‘Rahu’ does very well in the 10th house no matter what the sign or ‘nakshatra’.
- It might give you stress, anxiety and lots of fear, paranoia but..
- It will give you control over your life and career as well as lots of attention.
- At the basic level, ‘Control’ and ‘Attention’ are loosely the two most important things most of us desire in life especially when it comes to our career and work.
- I mean, why not? You spend the majority of your life working therefore control and authority in the workplace, over your actions, over your ‘karma’ is a desirable thing to have.
- There are shadow aspects of this placement, definitely, yes.
- However, largely from a material point of view, it is giving you a good starting point.
See, I have written a lot of answers about the North node including a book and I can tell you that the North node is actually the most ‘helpful’ planet to work with in the chart.
It’s the simplest actually.
You know why?
- Because all you have to learn to do to deal with the North node effectively, is to take up the attitude of ‘never giving up’.
- Be like the mythical ‘Swarbhanu, the original ‘asura’ who disguised himself just to be able to get access to the nectar of immortality while it was being served to the ‘devas’.
- He didn’t want to risk being left out.
- He knew it could prove to be fatal for him.
- However, he knew that if even one ‘asura’ can get his hands on the nectar of immortality, and if the one could be him then his mission was accomplished.
- As soon as he tasted the nectar, he became immortal.
- It didn’t matter that ‘Vishnu’ split him in two pieces, the head and body.. nope.
- To ‘Swarbhanu’, the only thing that mattered was the accomplishment of his goal which was for ‘asuras’ to become immortal. He just trusted himself the most to get the job done. Simple.
If you really think about it, that’s how the best sportsperson of any league, any sport will react.
If there’s a difficult chance to take, better I take it than the next guy who I know isn’t at my level.

Similarly, when you are dealing with the energy of the North node, you need to know that this is what your soul has manifested on this planet to experience.
The North node is telling you that this is what you have come here to do, go do it!
- In the tenth house the message is very simple:
- “I know what impact I want to leave on the world and therefore I will do it my way.”
- And most of the people who have the north node in the 10th house, can’t be happy in their career unless they do it ‘their way’.
The tenth house is a very strong and energetic house.
It is quite vast in terms of potential and power.
Why is that?
Well because it is representative of the ‘outside’ world.
The opportunities in the ‘outside’ world are endless!
From skiing to corporate seminars, conferences, jungle safaris and international events, it’s an endless list of scenarios.
Basically, whatever you can ‘do’ and ‘perform’ is ‘out there’!
- So the North node here maybe a slow starter early in life because to the native, the tenth house, the ‘karma sthana’, career and public image seems like something elusive.
- The native’s soul isn’t familiar with these patterns of functioning.
- The native can’t quite ‘get’ how it functions or what the rules are and therefore they take their time to understand deeply how things work in the domain of career and power; how to project themselves and how to act.
- The soul is more familiar with concepts of security and home that have been developed over many previous lifetimes as indicated by the South node in the 4th.
- A lot of these individuals are very connected to home, mother and private life.
- The native’s soul isn’t familiar with these patterns of functioning.
- However, the North node placement in your chart shows where you are naturally ‘charismatic’.
- The South node placement shows where you are naturally ‘experienced’ and ‘skilled’ but North node placement shows where you are naturally ‘charismatic’.
I have written answers about it, check it out. So many times we tend to see people through the screen of their North node placement.
For example, with the North node in the 10th, pretty soon the native realizes that..
“Hey! The rules out here are what I create them to be!”
So the native with the North node in the 10th house at their best, can mature into the highest imaginable version of a Capricorn.
Why?
This is because the North node pushes the native’s consciousness to develop in the direction of the house placement that it’s in.
- In the 10th, it’s the natural house of the sign of Capricorn and the native learns that to rise in life you need to work, work and work and go up step by step.
- On the shadow side, the native with north node in the 10th can become pretty obnoxious, power hungry, opportunistic and mean. Someone who will do anything in his or her power to stay dominant, relevant and in authority.
- See a lot depends on the ‘nakshatra’ of the North node and the dignity of the planet which rules the 10th house.
- Also, it depends to a huge extent on if there are any conjunctions with the North node because North node conjunctions can get alter the overall direction of the native’s life path immensely.
For example, the ‘Guru Chandal Yoga’ or ‘Angarak Yoga’ are very different with very different energies just because there is the North node conjunct Jupiter in one and Mars in the other.
Get me?
So even if the North node is the common factor in these two conjunctions, the overall energy is extremely different because the native’s soul purpose changes quite a bit!
The direction of growth of the consciousness shifts by a lot based on the conjunctions to the North node.
Why?
Because most of the energy of the North node then, goes into developing the planet conjunct it.
So that’s why we need to look at aspects and planetary maturations as well.
- The north node in the 10th house is characteristic of an ambitious person.
- A lot of people think that ‘Rahu’ is about money, riches and material success. No not really.
- For example, the North node in the 12th house is all about spirituality, foreign lands and secret dealings which could be a lot of things from foreign affairs to psychotherapy.
- Similarly, North node in the 9th house is all about growing spiritually and performing religious deeds, becoming more philosophical esoteric and wise.
- Likewise, the North node in the 3rd house is all about the native working hard to develop their courage and tenacity. The drive to ‘show the world’ what they are ‘capable of’ is very profound.
- Thing is.. when you are obsessed with the energy of the North node pointed in a particular direction, you just want to be the ‘best’ at it.
- Your hunger, your desire for that area of your life never ends.
- So quite naturally, in todays’ times, that translates into success, money, recognition and fame.
- Just labelling the North node as a ‘materialistic’ or ‘wealth giving’ planet is myopic to say the least.
- Those are the ‘shadow’ aspects of the planet, sure.
- However, the true essence is something else and money, fame and riches are usually just an outcome of that obsession.
The North node just keeps pushing you to revel deeper and deeper into the experience of that house because that’s what your soul is here to experience.
It’s why you manifested.
It’s why.. you weren’t able to get ‘moksha’.
Get it?
If only your soul had had its fill of experiences in that area of life, you wouldn’t have had the will left over to manifest yet again in this material plane and go through all the cycles of pain and pleasure once more.
- So many people just look at it like this:
- “Ohh.. ‘Rahu’ is very important to succeed in ‘kali yuga’. If it is strong, your life will be good.”
- Don’t patronize ‘Rahu ji’!
- Try to understand why things are the way they are.
- “Ohh.. ‘Rahu’ is very important to succeed in ‘kali yuga’. If it is strong, your life will be good.”
- See in the ‘kali yuga’ success is all about ‘obsession’ because life spans are shorter compared to other ‘yugas’ and the natural comforts and resources, goodness, truth and overall happiness is much shorter lived.
- The air is polluted, the ice caps are melting, there isn’t enough food, there’s so much poverty even in first world countries, crime, wars, financial insecurity and what not..
- Even your parents, children and family aren’t a guarantee for support and comfort in the times we live in. You can’t hold people to their ‘word’ and everywhere you look you see lies and deceit in one form or another!
- Who can succeed in these circumstances?
- Only the one who is ‘obsessed’ with what they want to accomplish in life.
- Incidentally, that would be someone with a strong ‘Rahu’.
- That would be a person who is very well aware of their purpose in this world and also have the clarity and obsession to pursue it despite all odds!
Let’s now take a few examples of people with the North node in the 10th house, for a better understanding of this energy:
Donald Trump – Businessman and Politician

- America’s ex president is the embodiment of what the common folk assume as the characteristic description of the North node.
- Outspoken, influential, rich, well connected, unabashedly materialistic and self serving, Donald Trump is a shrewd businessman, investor and politician.
- Any amount of power that there is out there to be had, be it in the business world or political world, Trump is working towards getting to it at all times!
- Why? As I said, any conjunctions with the North node alter the nature drastically. Trump has the North node conjunct the Sun and no wonder he stormed into power when everyone least expected.
Mahatma Gandhi

- Now this is an example that shows you how a conjunction with the North node can change the entire dynamics of the placement.
- Gandhiji had his North node conjunct the Moon in the 10th house.
- The Moon conjunct the North node in the tenth displays an individual with an obsession to ‘nurture’ and ‘comfort’.
- It really comes as no surprise that his clothing of choice the he popularized throughout the country and world was ‘khadi’ which is a comforting white fabric characteristic of the color of the Moon. ‘Khadi’ is also well suited for both winter and summer. Nearly all of Gandhiji’s policies were centered around shielding the masses from the brunt of British oppression during India’s freedom struggle.
I hope this answers your question.
