Hari Om!

(‘Agni’ comes from the Sanskrit word ‘Agrini’ meaning leader. Lord ‘Agni’ is the ruling deity of the star of ‘Krittika’ and he’s also the leader of the Gods.)
I honestly have no clue what this ‘Rahu-Ketu dosha’ is. To me it sounds made up.
Before anyone lectures me in the comments about commentaries from prominent astrologers on the topic let me tell you that like any science, in ‘Vedic’ astrology as well is constantly evolving with new insights and greater understanding.
For example, consider the case of Mercury combustion.
Any planet that is within 10 degrees of the Sun is considered combust but Mercury is usually so close to the Sun that if we start applying the same principles to study its combustion, it will come out as combust in at least 50-60% of the charts.
Therefore unless Mercury is closer to the Sun than 3–5 degrees, it’s not really a ‘combust’ Mercury and you can even analyze it from the individual’s behavior.
In the same way, I don’t really think ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’ no matter where they are placed in the chart ever create a ‘dosha’.
How can that be?
We can call it any other ‘yoga’ as seems fit but certainly not ‘Rahu’ ‘Ketu’ ‘dosha’.
That’s because the North and South nodes of the Moon aren’t ever really in an ‘unfavorable’ position. They are just where they are and show the individual the priorities they must keep in this lifetime to attain liberation as also talents and experiences from the past that can help them get there.
Think of it like this:
A compass will always point North irrespective of where you are standing or ‘feel’ like going.
Where you ‘feel’ like going or not going for that matter, has no bearing on where the compass should point! It’s designed to point North. Period.
What you are supposed to do is see where you want to go on the basis of the singular reliable homing nudge.
If you want to go East, by all means go East. What does it matter to you where North is?
Saying that the nodal placements in one’s chart is creating a ‘dosha’ or is cursing them is like saying: “This compass is broken because I want to go East and it keeps pointing North!”
Get me?
Now, let’s say the nodal placement in your chart does give you some problems by virtue of the experiences it creates for your soul to grow in that particular direction. What do you do? You find a way to better navigate those experiences.
So if your North node is let’s say in Scorpio in the 8th house.. (which is considered a very bad placement).. here’s what you do:
- First of all make peace with the fact that sudden ups and downs are going to be an integral part of your life. You cannot escape this.
- Second, you need to carefully analyze the sudden events that took place in the past and journal what were your contributions to them if any.
- This process needs to be continuous to help you make sense of what kind of experiences of the 8th house do you usually attract into your life.
- Third, study the ‘nakshatra’ placement of the North node and figure out the power, weakness and strength of that star in detail.
- So if the North node is in the 8th in ‘Anuradha’, then you can say that these unforeseen, deep sudden events are meant to transform you into a strong and devoted person who is destined to apply these learnings to create balance in other people’s lives.
- This can be anyone from a psychologist to a spiritual guru, researcher or lawyer.
- The point is with the knowledge of what these experiences are transforming you into, you have a better perspective of and attitude towards the set of experiences that are destined.
- Once you build that clarity now you can take things a step further.
- How?
- Take the ruling deity of that star and make them your primary go-to person whenever you are in trouble.
- That energy will help you immensely in harnessing the energies of your placement and moving towards it in a proactive and balanced manner.
- So in this example, the deity of the star of ‘Anuradha’ is Lord Ganesha.
- Praying to him and chanting his ‘mantra’ for even 5 minutes every morning (consistently) will give you immense clarity in terms of tackling any problems thrown towards you by the nodal placement.
So it doesn’t really matter what your past ‘karma’ has been.
You can accept what has been and move towards what is to come with grace.
However this shift will only take place if you change your mindset about what ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’ want to show to you.
Let’s take a very quick example before I conclude this answer:
Let’s say you have the North node in the 5th house in the star of ‘Krittika’.
Well over here this placement may deny progeny or cause separation from progeny and/or love interests.
When you tap in deeper to ‘Krittika’ you see that it is basically the star of leadership.
Now don’t waste time looking at things from the perspective of the 99% who take a passive and victimized approach to life.
Unlock the power of the placement first. That’s where your ‘moksha’ is!
That is what you are here to do in this lifetime.
Get that out of the way first and the ‘karma’ will resolve itself.
So in the case, one can say to a high degree of certainty that the individual is here to be an incisive and almost ruthless leader.
The native has:
- a naturally sharp sense of observation,
- great powers of analysis,
- expression that is to the point and exacting,
- ability to read and find loopholes in the ‘fine print’.
Such an individual can be anyone from a great lawyer to a great accountant or computer programmer.
Your job is to now develop these traits and this energy and in this, the deity of this star will help you.
Who’s the deity here?
‘Agni’
So pray to him on a regular basis.
How?
Well make sure to light a camphor lamp every morning as you start your day.
Also perform at least one ‘homa’ a week.
When you do this, you will find your mindset transform as you tap deeper into the energy of your nodal placement. This is after all who you’re here to become in this lifetime.
Yes it’s true that in this pursuit of yours you will encounter many problems because obviously all of this is new to your soul. Eventually you’ll get it.
Once you do that, you will see the problems created by this placement also begin to subside.
That’s how you want to approach your nodal energy.
Hope this helps.
Hari Om!
