Hari Om Namo Narayana!
Most people will say that this placement leads to ‘loss of marriage’ or ‘loss of partnerships’ etc. however that is not true. I am going to dispel these fears in the rest of this answer. Just read ahead.
- What are ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’?
- ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’ are nodes of the moon that signify respectively, the future and the past ‘karma’ for the soul.
- North Node placement in your chart shows what the soul has incarnated to accomplish in this lifetime.
- South Node placement in your chart shows what the soul has acquired expertise over through past lifetimes.
- What is the ‘karma’ associated with ‘Rahu’ and ‘Ketu’?
- North node is the role and the experience that you need to grow into. Only thing is, it’s very difficult especially early on in life, as the soul doesn’t possess the necessary experience to be able to perform well in these areas. That is why ‘Rahu’ placements are what make the native feel ‘out of their element’. This is because these are a set of experiences that they aren’t familiar with.
- South node constitutes the set of ‘security paradigms’ that the soul now needs to let go of in order to move towards North node and prosper. So you begin your life, with an abundance in the area shown by your South node placement and as you progress, you slowly let go of South Node and embrace what the North node is beckoning you to transform into.
- To this effect, I have written well read, well appreciated answers on the nodes that you may want to check out:

Now, what happens when North node is in the ascendant and South node in the descendent (7th house)?
This is how things begin early on in the individual’s life:
- First of all, we can see that the native has a natural skill and inclination towards managing and keeping relationships.
- The individual is most likely a person who is well adept at maintaining relationships with people by being able to find common ground and ‘make things work’.
- The individual is also quite compromising in order to ‘keep the peace’. This is especially likely in the early part of the individual’s life.
- All of these are a direct result of the individual’s South node placement in the chart and this is what causes the individual to behave in this manner as these are patterns being carried over from previous lifetimes.
- This is what the soul is most comfortable with. This is what the soul is most adept at. Therefore, this is what the soul knows best and the mind is guided towards these experiences in this lifetime.
Now, let’s get into the North node placement:
- The individual’s need and the soul’s desire before being incarnated in this lifetime was to develop a better sense of individualism and a deeper knowledge of the self.
- The individual with this placement will early on life, find it hard to discover clear answers to deep questions such as “Who am I?”, “What am I good at?” and “What are my deepest desires?”
- The personality, personal identity and ‘self concept’ develops pretty late for the individual and before that, relationships take predominance in the native’s pursuit of happiness and fulfillment.
- So the individual is quite likely to get married early or define themselves through their relationships such as with family, the spouse, even friends and/or cousins etc.
This is how things change as the individual progresses in life:
- In time, as the native begins to discover more and more what they like, what they desire and what makes them happy and fulfilled in life, they find themselves becoming more and more solitary.
- Bear in mind, you can be solitary in the mind and spirit even when surrounded by people all around you and married to someone you love.
- This ‘experience’ of self discovery, feeling of being solitary, wanting to discover deeper their desires and their highest expression, begins with the individual not finding the type of satisfaction and fulfillment in their relationships and other people’s way of being.
- The native slowly begins to realise how ‘going along’ with everyone else just to be able to ‘keep the peace’ and ‘get along’ is harming their own individuality.
- These early experiences, as life goes on, become more resounding and forces the individual to go on a journey to self discovery and self expression.
- This is also why, quite often, these individuals become entrepreneurs and businessmen. Why? They utilize their natural talent in forming, building and maintaining relationships with others through South node being the 7th house, to express themselves and feed their ambition, their identity. (North node in the 1st house)
- Finally, the individual begins to let go of South node significations in the chart to focus completely on the ‘self’.
- North node in first house people will quite often come across as ‘selfish’ and ‘self serving’. However that is not the case.
- The experience of their life has been such and it has been shaped in such a way that they have come to realize, there is just no fun in ‘going along’ with other people’s choices and letting other people’s needs dominate their own.
- North node placements are where we sometimes tend to overdo things because of North node’s energy. South node placements are where we tend to get ‘complacent’ because of too much confidence on our past life expertise coming in that area.
- This is why, North node in first house people can sometimes come across as too selfish in the same way that North node in 7th house people can come across as too naïve.
- North node in first house people will quite often come across as ‘selfish’ and ‘self serving’. However that is not the case.
Now, some FAQs:
- Does South node in the 7th house causes divorces?
- It is possible however, that is possible with any placement. South node in 7th house people fall into partnerships and marriage quite naturally and sometimes it is not a conscious choice as they are just being lead by their ‘default’ knowledge from past lifetimes.
- Upon falling into such a partnership or marriage, they may realise that this isn’t what satisfies them or fulfills them the way they had wanted and then they may want to ‘break free’.
- A rule of thumb to work well with South node is always to treat its placements more spiritually. Once you do that, things work out fine.
- Quite often, people have South node in the 7th house but there are combinations completely different in their chart, causing them divorces and marriage troubles!
- Is South node in 7th house good for business?
- Careers are better understood and analyzed by looking at the AK, AmK and the D-10 charts.
- For all you know, somebody with South node in the 7th house has manifested in this lifetime, for the sole purpose of fulfilling a desire or pending ‘karma’ from previous lifetime of running a successful business!
- Therefore, these things can only be analyzed well by looking at other planetary placements.
This is very deep topic, so you are advised to not become too fearful just by looking at these placements and analyze the complete chart not just the nodal aspect. The nodal aspect is no doubt very important however sometimes we give false blame to the nodes when actually the miscreants are elsewhere!
Hope this helps.
