Hari Om Namo Narayana!
(The ‘Big Bull’ Harshad Mehta reached his pinnacle as well as his catastrophic downfall in his ‘Ketu mahadasha’. His South node was placed in the 10th house.)
The thing with a bad South node placement is that you can’t trust your ‘natural’ instincts.
Even more appalling is that you don’t have a conscious understanding of why whatever’s happening to you is happening that way.
With the South node, you can always have a ‘sense’ of what’s wrong and you if anyone has an even a reasonable level of receptivity, they can read the signs and avoid a catastrophe.
However, if your South node isn’t working properly, you are quite detached from these ‘signals’ from the universe.
- See the South node of the moon is what connects the soul to its past experiences.
- It’s what gives you a deeper insight into the workings of the material world.
- It helps you soar above the illusion of ‘maaya’ and look at loss and life for what they are after all: illusions.
- A good South node connects the soul with the super consciousness and gives it the ability to tap in its past experiences and drawn from them to finally be able to grow out of its stereotype.
- For example, a well placed South node in the first house enables the individual to tap into their spiritual gifts and act in consistency with their soul purpose.
- It allows the person to let go of societal constructs and expectations that may have been enforced upon them and are keeping them down… keep them disempowered and disconnected from their true potential.
- Someone with a good South node in the first house will rise to their highest expression in the major period of their South node. So much so that they will fulfill most of the goals their soul had pending before manifesting on the material plane.
- It’s like an eagle soaring above the clouds to escape the storm and feeling comfortable, not lonely in its amazingly powerful ability to do so.
- That’s the extent of power that the South node can give you in the chart if it is well placed. To be honest, in my opinion, the South node is the most powerful and underplayed planet in the entire chart.
If you read my other answers you will see me illustrating the same with some notable examples. It’s truly fabulous when it works right. It’s kind of like a promise made to your soul that it manifests to cash in this lifetime.
- Yes obviously it being the South node there must be a catch here right?
- There is.
- The catch is that you always always always have to let something, someone or both go in order for your south node to truly realize its power.
- Sometimes it’s your identity.
- (Don’t be shocked. A good example for it would be movie stars and secret agents.)
- The things is it isn’t difficult for the individual to make these sacrifices and sacrifices is more of a Sun-related lesson. With the South node it is more like ‘letting go’.
- It’s easy for the individual to do that and make peace with what needs to be ‘let go’ when the South node is well placed in the chart.
When the South node is not well placed however..
that’s when this can be a very very painful process.
Why?
Because you are so deeply attached to the things that you have to let go.. that is a part of your soul’s journey to let go.. and that you need to let go to grow..
but you just don’t want to.
And it hurts.
- You will keep forcing the South node to grant you things you can no longer have and keep failing because that is not what you should be doing and still keep at it.
- You will fail to look beyond the things you need to let go off and rise above the illusion to experience the spiritual purpose in loss and let it transform you.
- This will hurt once more.. and a lot.
Basically, the thing with South node is you can’t win against the South node.
What do I mean?
- Well there’s a reason your soul has gone through all the trouble to manifest yet again on this material plane where the uncertainties are plentiful and opportunities to escape few.
- It’s to finally be able to make peace with the old experiences and let go of them.
- It’s to finally experience what it has been lacking all along.. to integrate that missing piece of the puzzle and make peace with the cycle of death and rebirth and let it go.
- So the thing is, the South node will not give you lasting happiness.
- It will fulfill your needs to an extent and give you some safety and help but that’s it. No more.
- Then you need to move towards the North node to experience what you have always wanted.
So when the South node is badly placed the problems are two fold:
- You are quite disconnected with your ‘akashic’ knowledge.
- You feel unsupported, underconfident, listless, purposeless and rudderless in life to pursue your true calling. You probably don’t know either what that is. The things that do make you feel empowered are the ones you need to stop going after.
- You are too attached to what you shouldn’t be attached to.
- You are refusing to step out of the mold of familiar experiences that over many lifetimes have been repetitive and boring.
And then there’s an even bigger problem here.
That is the nature of the South node.
See I’ve explained it many times in my answers and articles.
Every planet is a teacher with a distinct teaching style to help your consciousness grow and evolve until it is ready to merge back with the super consciousness.
These lessons are reflected in our physical reality as well.
- Sun teaches us through sacrifice.
- Saturn through delays and struggle.
- Mars through focus and will power.
- Moon through nurturing
- Venus through love
- Mercury through curiosity
- Jupiter through knowledge.
- North node through experience
- South node through letting go.
If you force their hand, each planet will force you into circumstances where you will have to do things in those ways.
- For example the North node will force you into situations where you have no choice but to engage with that area of your life that the North node indicates.
- Similarly Sun will force you into situations where you will have to make a sacrifice and Jupiter will force you into situations where you will have to grow wiser.
- The South node just takes things and people away from you. No explanations offered. That’s it. Bam! Gone.
- Now keep getting over your grief. That’s your problem. Not his.
- If you can’t make peace with it, once more. Not his problem.
This is why the nodes are feared so much.
Because quite often there is no closure with them.
The North node will just thrust you right into situations your soul has no experience with.
Like pushing a gladiator out in the arena and closing the door behind him.
Why?
Because his job is only to deliver the experience your soul desired before manifesting.
Same thing with South node.
If you don’t understand his messages, he will take away you spouse, your career and/or your health etc. depending on the placement.
Why?
Because his job is to force you to let go of those things and move towards a new way of being.
It makes me think sometimes that the nodes are actually more like contractors and ‘coaches’ not teachers. Haha
The promised experience is delivered. End of story.
So yeah, a bad South node period can be pretty devastating.
However good thing is you can always work with the nodes.
They respond very well to your efforts.
Whether or not some has a ‘bad’ South node period coming up is very subjective.
One should not jump to conclusions.
However yes, one can see mostly when it’s happening.
If you see an individual over attached to something they need to let go of and it’s more than visible to everyone and they can’t see it despite every indication.. it’s probably a bad South node placement.
So.. many marriages can also be like that.
Many toxic habits can be like that.
- Engaging in anything where everyone can see you need to stop but you.. that’s the sign of a bad South node who will have his way with you when the time comes.
- Also, with a good South node you often can see the signs nudging you to change long before anyone else.
- With a good South node, you can see further than anyone in that area of your life and your marshalling of resources is logical, unemotional but intuitive.
- These things eventually play a huge role when the South node period comes along.
Okay I guess I’ll wrap up this answer here.
The nodes are my favorite topic but it’s an endless topic and this much information seems sufficient for the scope of the question.
