Hari Om!
(‘Karmic’ partnerships are often looked as negative where you have unsettled ‘karmic’ debts. However that is only half the story.)
This term ‘Karmic’ partner has been popularized recently I’d say by tarot readers.
Oh no no I revere them. Some great tarot readers in fact I turn to for advice from time to time!
However, the thing is ‘Vedic’ astrology is not just astrology. It is essentially ‘Vedic’ philosophy.
You need to understand that ‘Vedic’ astrology is a subset of ‘Vedic’ philosophy which is a subset of ‘Sanatana Dharma’.
‘Sanatana’ meaning what has always been (and hence will always be) is the giant Banyan from which have emerged the many branches that are the scriptures, philosophies and doctrines.. even allied religions and beliefs of this land.. that have emerged.
This is the reason that Sikhism has never been at odds with Hinduism or Jainism or Buddhism.
Fundamentalist elements aside, almost all Eastern thought is one mega-culture of which there are finer differentiations by country, ethnicity, ancestry et all.
Get me?
So the thing here is that although Tarot and many similar forms of divination are amazing in the insights they provide us, at the essence of Eastern philosophy as a whole, is the idea that every thing that is here and existent.. is ‘karmic’.
This is also where the narrow differentiations in thought emerge in the super giant cluster of Banyan trees that together form Eastern thought.
- Jainism seeks to minimize one’s ‘karmic’ interactions with the world as much as possible to the point that Jain monks even cover their mouths so that unknowingly they do not cause harm to microbial life.
- ‘Vedic’ philosophy expands the idea of making offerings to the god and empowering the ‘good’.
- ‘Tantra’ looks at good and bad as indistinct and comprehends everything as just ‘energy’.
- ‘Buddhism’ just looks at it all and dismisses it as illusionary play.
- I can go and on and keep splitting the ends further and further but it is endless.
This is why I used the Banyan analogy.
So therefore when we talk about soulmates or ‘karmic’ partners etc. you need to understand that all interactions you have here on the material plane emanate from or create some sort of ‘karmic’ domino effect.
There is either a wave of reactions emanating from past reactions headed towards you right now or there is a wave being created right now headed out into the future.
To the more scholastically inclined, this is quite similar to the concept of using light cones to describe events. This is how Stephen Hawking simplified the understanding of how events cause repercussions in the past and the future in terms of quantum time-keeping one can say (for want of a better phrase).

What this means is, every interaction that you are part of, negative or positive.. can therefore be considered simultaneously to be influencing both your good and bad ‘karma’.
The only way out for you is to always try to focus on your highest vibration as an individual.
In terms of partnerships and the ‘twin flame’ journey it would mean to practice as much love as possible.
Sometimes this will require love towards yourself and distancing from and releasing connections that are hurtful or have a negative ‘karmic’ burden attached to them.
Sometimes this will mean raising your vibration in order to be able to better connect with your partner and awakening to match the true nature of the connection where you might have been the one taking more than giving.
Sure there may be ‘twin flames’ and ‘soul mates’ and ‘karmic’ partners etc. but I think personally..
more than a clear cut differentiation of roles, these are energetic vibrations that one may step into with purpose and enlightenment.
Long story short:
- Whenever in doubt about who is your soulmate or twin flame or if you are wrong or the other person..
- Your job is to not lose yourself in the illusion and forget your highest ‘dharma’.
- Whoever seeks to be and remain aligned with you will find a way to balance the equation.
Of course, many people will come into your life for the very purpose of awakening you and aligning you with your path.
However, this is not the person per se but the universe nudging you by acting through the person and you need to understand that.
- From a purely astrological perspective, yeah if the DK or the 7th lord or Saturn is associated with the 6th house then it can be possible that your life partner is one you have a past life with.
- Also if your DK, 7th lord, ruler of the star of the 7th and/or Venus for men, Jupiter for women are retrograde then it can once again mean that there is heavy past life debts to be cleared with your life partner this time around.
- If both cases are true then well, you can bet there is major ‘karma’ associated with probably all the relationships you have come across in this lifetime. This also means platonic relationships.
- And if you are one of the especially lucky chosen ones.. haha.. and have somehow one of the nodes also involved in these interactions then my friend.. you and your spouse probably both of you knew the moment you met that there was this connection between you two.
In fact, even if you did not end up marrying that person, you both know and recognize that this bond exists.
You could say they are your ‘Twin Flame’ if you want.
However please focus on the things I wrote in the middle of this answer.
That’s the most important.
That you are not to lose yourself in this ‘search’.
The more ‘karmic’ an area of your life, the more you are advised to become spiritual to untangle the knots.
So to conclude one can say that all ‘karmic’ partnerships in your life are catalysts for spiritual growth.
Hope this helps.
Hari Om!
