Your fixation with
Getting ‘there’..
Is what’s keeping you
From enjoying
Where you are.
It’s what’s keeping you
From finding joy,
Doing what you do.
Reaching your goals,
Happens automatically.
It happens effortlessly,
Once you begin
To savour
The long walk…
Leading you there.

    1. I dont think our goal can ever be not good for us. At the heart of every human the basic goal is the same: to be happy.. We go on piling on desires on top of that and becoming compulsive and obsessive and greedy and egoistic.. Our vision becomes obscured and we begin to run after things that are illusions. They aren’t our goals. Yes we can still have whatever we want in life.
You see… The goal is NOT the goal. The transformation en route the goal is what we need.. To grow.
      THAT is the goal.

      1. That’s what I meant.
The goal we fixed for us is not necessarily the goal we would be happy with. Often it takes more than a lifetime to see it…

  1. Deep thought…I hope people understand the importance of living in the present and stop indulging in the rat race ….and killing themselves for the sake of their so called ultimate goal of life…Taking baby steps and enjoying them all makes us win every day.

    1. Thanks a lot Neha. Sorry for the late reply. I have my civil services exam next Sunday. Been totally into that!! .. There’s a poem here in the comments linked by Evana.. You’ll see the comment.. Its the first comment I think. Just read that poem. I mean.. I have written what I have written and in simple words to convey the idea… But that poem sums this up brilliantly. Brilliantly. See that is why I wanna make the transition to writing longer poems now. Longer poems are rhe real poems so to say. More literary.. So to speak.. But yeah coming back to this.. I think more important than the dream.. Is how it transforms you through the journey.
To quote my favourite motivational speaker, Les Brown: “What you become in the process.. Is more important than the dream. The kind of person that you become, the courage that you develop, the character that you build… The faith that you’re manifesting. One day you get up and you look yourself in the mirror and you’re a different kind of person and you walk with a different kind of spirit.” Thanks Neha for reading and commenting. Always a pleasure having you over. 🙂

    1. Lol you’re so self obsessed. No that’s not where the gloominess came from. That’s what life is all about. Not a happy and soft bed of velvety roses but hard reality… But I think yeah to an extent thar had a role to play. 😛
My life has more or less been a struggle. Most people’s lives are that way. Most people aren’t lucky to have it easy or have it given to them easy. When you stop settling and start going after the things you really want.. When you start pushing yourself to become better and better.. The game changes…
Also.. I dont wanna be another Tina Dabi.. I want to be the FIRST Dhananjai Kaushal.
But I get your point.. 😉
      Thanks for your good wishes.

  3. Joy could be found by the simplest forms of meanings by enjoying every moment of your life, slowly but surely. I understand you on a deeper level just like how my Cancerian boyfriend would always remind me to relax and have fun. I’m the complete opposite of a Cancerian–totally restless and almost always hectic lol. Thank you for this, Jay! Means a lot.
